This sticks out to me in particular because neither of our parents steeped us in our heritage. My sister had a point in life that she was obsessed with our Irish roots. I never felt a tug in either direction, but I’m realizing that it means I missed out on a lot of tools that would make it easier for me to understand and relate to my peers of color.
